PRAY FOR “1040″ FILM PROJECT

1040window

Dear Prayer Team,

It has been some time since I’ve sent out a prayer request. I have been spending the last 3 months in Los Angeles focusing on building my life in every aspect. It has been a lot of time of reflecting, re-prioritizing and re-accessing what is important in my life.  I’ve been focusing my time in growing closer to the Lord and doing ministry in the media mission field. In the last few months I have been spending a lot more time enjoying God’s presence in every day life. I’ve also been finishing my music project, setting up a new media ministry and pastoring our network of house churches in Hollywood Ca. But I need your dedicated prayers because this Monday I begin an important mission for a documentary film I am shooting in Asia….

Specifically, I am asking for your daily prayers between April 1-17, 2009. Our media company is filming a documentary called “1040″ a story about “Christianity in Asia” and Asia’s role in the end times. We will be traveling to Asia two times in the next two months to shoot this film in various Asian countries. I will be leaving on Monday with our production team Evan Leong and Anson Ho to Hong Kong, mainland China and finally Seoul Korea for our first trip.

EAST WEEK #8 – “VIDEOS GAMES ARE SUPER FUN, BUT CAN ALSO BE SERIOUSLY DANGEROUS”

2665_55663688612_655373612_1592427_8265954_n

I can’t lie. I must confess that I like to play video games! In fact, I used to host a video game TV show, that’s how much I like to play! Video games can be a lot of fun, but at the same time certain video games can be very dangerous. The videos games I started out playing in the 1990’s (Atari, Nintendo, Sega Genesis, etc) are very different from the video games that young people have access to playing today. I used to play harmless games like “Duck Hunt” and “Super Mario Brothers.” Today, they have games like “Grand Theft Auto” (where you get to play a street gangster that kills, steals, and destroys society) or games like “Resident Evil” (where you literally mass murder, mutilate and genocide people and demons) things have definitely changed since the first hit video game Pac Man!

Don’t get me wrong, I believe there are a lot of great video games out today that are harmless, good fun and a great entertainment experience. At the same time, there are video games out there today that can seriously cause damage not only to the person playing it, but sadly others. There have been many case studies proving that violent video games produce violent behavior in young people. Many of the mass school killings in North America that have been carried out by students, have been proven to be influenced by excessive violent video game playing.

INTERNATIONAL SECRET AGENTS (ISA 2009)

This past weekend I got to come back to my home town Bay Area for the 2009 ISA “International Secret Agents” show with Far East Movement, Jin the MC, Wong Fu Productions and a host of many other amazing Asian American talent (Paul Dateh, PASSION, Fanny Pak, Jesse Malay, etc). The show was crazy, completely sold out and the spirit was alive in da building! It’s a blessing to see how far we have come as Asian American’s in mainstream pop culture. 10 years ago, it would have never been possible for me in high school to witness two Asian American hip hop artists with songs playing on mainstream radio… but today my brothers Jin and FM have pioneered and paved the way for a new generation of Asian youth to enter into the creative arts and make impact in popular culture with their faith, talent and heritage… we are at the beginning of something great and I’m excited to see what is to come in the coming days, this is just the beginning…. SOLDIERS OF LIGHT shine on!!!

Jin, Far East Movement, performing "MILLIONAIRE" for the finale. You could feel the LIGHT coming off the stage. God was in the building!

EAST WEEK #7 ~ “CHOW YUN FAT MADE ME A GANGSTER!”

In the last few columns I have been writing about issues and problems that the globalized youth culture are facing today.  Especially, for those who are parents, counselors, or older role models in our society, it is important that we understand how to deal with the issues that this generation face. Whether that is learning how to communicate with those who seem rebellious or dealing with issues of sexual immorality, addictions, peer pressure, suicide etc…

The next few posts I want to focus on the influence of “violence in media” its negative effects on the youth and how we can respond responsibly as adults.

Kina Grannis ~ Simply Beautiful (www.kinagrannis.com)

Seldom, have I been able to find music that inspires and touches my heart now a days. I found Kina Grannis when I was at a talent showcase in LA called Kollaboration. When this girl sang, it was like an angel was singing on the stage…. the music she was singing was beautiful, but even more so was her spirit. There was a purity, a passion and presence that was angelic. so I bought all 3 of her CD’s from her site.

www.kinagrannis.com

I’m now peacefully and joyfully listening to each CD through and through in LA traffic. love it! and you can find all her facebook, myspace, and everything else on her site. Check out her youtube videos… she’s got a lot of goodies there :D I love her music…it’s simply beautiful =)

Here’s one of her more popular songs “message from your heart”

“Make Me” love this one…

“Hallelujah” …. beautiful
