Today I ended up at a park in the afternoon, Echo park to be exact. I sat down to just enjoy the sunlight shining into the afternoon… that is when I realized there was a lot of random trash on the ground around the park. So, I thought it would be nice to just pick up the trash I could find and throw it away. Why? Well, it would definitely make for a more pleasant experience to others who came to enjoy a day at the park. Also, it’s always good to LOVE THE ENVIRONMENT!
It made me happy and peaceful to do so, knowing someone else would have a cleaner more beautiful park to experience!
365 Days of Love Challenge: Go pick up trash at a nearby park to love your neighbors and the environment! :) Share your picking up trash stories in the comments… hehe
I’d put a picture of what happened tonight, but I need to conceal the identities of some of the people involved in this latest 365 episode hehe. Basically, my friend from Taiwan came to visit me and my other friend Sarah (who is a minister) in LA. We decided to go out to eat for dinner at a nice restaurant in Beverly Hills. It ended up being 5 ladies and 1 gentleman… lucky me :) Not planned!
So my friend brought 3 of her other friends and then there was my friend Sarah with me. Sarah and I had both recently led our friend from Taiwan to get to know God and I guess she wanted us to share about our faith to her friends who didn’t have a specific faith. As we had a dinner and got to know each other, each of the ladies began to share their personal struggles, doubts and also aspirations in life on a general level… then the Spirit of God came over me and Sarah and we both began to give each of them specific prophetic words from God…

365 DAYS OF LOVE: DAY 57 ~ HELPING GEORGE UNDER A BRIDGE WITH SOME CHANGE, SOME HOPE & ENCOURAGEMENT
Today, I was stopped twice by two different pan handlers on the street. One in J-Town and the other by Studio City under a bridge. The first man, honestly got right up to my car as I was driving to a destination. But something in me felt I needed to turn back and help him out. So I turned my car around, found him walking down the street and gave him some change. He told he used to be part of some popular funk band, our talk was brief but I was glad I turned around to show him some love and attention.
The one that got me later was when I met George off the exit. Sometimes, the best way to love someone on the street is not just to give them money, but to give them honor. To actually stop and listen to their story and get to know them as a human being. It was heart wrenching, but George in our time together told me that he had been sleeping under the bridge for over 2 years. He can’t find a job, and he’s stuck out on the streets with no luck. He’s waiting for his girlfriend to come out of jail and I could see this sadness in his eyes that was almost hopeless. Yet, we gave each other’s blessings & he kept telling me God bless you, God bless you bro! Well, thank you George…
I was at Walgreens buying some things today and while I was there something cool happened. I was heading up to the front desk cashier to pay for my stuff, when this old man walks up to me and says “Hey, you should buy some of those skittles boxes cause they are only 49 cents!” I responded with, “I would but I’m fasting sweets for lent so I can’t!” He laughed and then the guy behind me said, “Actually, I’m fasting alcohol for lent and its been really hard. I didn’t realize how much I drank till I tried stopping!” I encouraged him telling him that it’s proven it takes 21 days minimum to break a bad habit and to form a new one. I told him with God anything is possible!
He seemed to be in a bit of a rush so I thought to myself, “I should give him my place in line so he doesn’t have to wait.” So I let him go in front of me and he was super thankful. After he bought his stuff and was about to leave he said, “Hey, I’ll pray for you on your lent fast, and please pray for me too! Thanks for letting me go first in line!” We both nodded and I let him know I would definitely pray for him to break free from alcohol with God’s help. It was a short but memorable moment of love. And all this happened in a drug store called “Walgreens” God’s love is everywhere!
