and follow my daily acts of love. The below is for the past two weeks of acts of love since my time in Taiwan. So much, so much has happened I don’t know where to begin. My life is really crazy sometimes, it’s not normal, it’s rather adventurous on a daily basis. I really never know who I will meet, who God leads me to help or what may happen in a day. What I do know is that everyday presents a gift and opportunity to be a blessing to God and another. My last trip in Taiwan and Korea, I spent more time in daily meetings with artists and entertainers helping them through their personal struggles, passion and finding purpose. Of course, I never mention the names of those God calls me to help to protect their privacy, that is unless they choose to share about it publicly themselves… but it does amaze me how so many pop stars and cultural icons are coming to faith personally. I realize that God is rising up more and more of them to recognize their platforms of influence is to not for themselves, but to influence and impact others in a positive and truth filled way. In essence, to spread the love!

Love keeps loving… I’m not stopping my love, none of us should stop loving, because God never stops loving. I’ve also had some more random love encounters below and a special thanks to our 1040 staff and team in LA who have worked tirelessly to have an ultra successful trip. Thank you David, Christina, Peter, Eugene, Michael, Wendy, Ray, Dan, Caleb, Carl, Eddy and everyone at the ADVENTURES.TV office for making history for God!! On with loving below…

365 Days of Love: Day 224 “We held an outreach to thousands on an airport base outside in Indonesia, thousands came even though there was a monsoon of rain, but instead of canceling the event I went down to where the crowds were and worshipped and prayed to God with the rain pouring down on all of us. A true leader doesn’t just stay on the stage, but he comes down and walks with the people… it was one of the most beautiful  moments of worship I’ve ever had in my life.”

365 Days of Love: Day 225 “By faith we pressed through the rain in worship and by faith the rain stopped by a miracle. I preached and over a thousand came to faith in Christ and many were baptized immediately unto new life!”

How do you show love when there’s a time crunch?

It was uncommonly cold in Los Angeles the past week or so and our office building kept blasting the air conditioning. I would walk around the office and see all our employees wearing extra sweaters, coats, and even blankets as they worked!

Los Angeles doesn’t exactly have a lot of cold, snowy days, so I guess by other people’s standards, the weather seemed fine. But it felt frigid in the office! I decided to get every single employee at PCG (Plan C Group) a mug, put in some hot cocoa powder with a marshmallow, and attach a customized note!

Great idea, I thought, and it cuts down on using plastic cups at the water cooler too! I gave myself a pat on the back.

Problem? I had only 10 minutes to distribute the cups because of an emergency meeting. How do you show love when you only have ten minutes! If it was up to me, I would have handed out the cups, chatted, and caught up with every single person. Unfortunately, at that moment, I did not have the time. On top of that, most employees had left early for the weekend– what do you do when your act of kindness “fails”?

Love never fails. Things may have not gone according to plan, but for those that were there– they loved their mugs! For those that left early, they had a great surprise waiting on their desk when they trudged into work on Monday. I really had to battle those thoughts of doing an act of kindness that was less than adequate– my heart and intentions were there and even more importantly, they were fueled by a greater Love than my own. My acts of love hopefully leave positive experiences for others, but ultimately they are to glorify my God, my Maker, my Dad. :)

On possibly the hottest day in LA, I had this brilliant idea of singing in the sun.

I always pass by a park on my way to work and I would see all the park patrons sweating in the sun. Some of them looked pretty miserable. Some of them were there killing time, some others were just lounging. I thought about maybe bring bottles of water or something for them, but it struck me that I could offer them a very unique experience.

I asked my awesome sister, Esna Yoon (check out http://www.youtube.com/esnathesinger) if she could accompany me as the “lead singer” of my 365 Days of Love episode of singing to park patrons. Think of Christmas caroling, except in the summer. Esna, being the awesome sport she is, said “OF COURSE!”

We printed out the lyrics to a couple of popular love songs and headed out to the park. When we arrived– it was blazing hot. Oh wait– did I mention… I can’t sing? Did I also mention that we barely knew most of the songs?

To be truthful, I was a little intimidated by how unapproachable some people seemed. But music is a powerful medium to convey a message of love– we pressed through it and once we opened our mouths (or when Esna started singing) I saw people snap to attention and relax visibly and even smile. Sometimes despite differences in age, gender, circumstances, absolute strangers can connect over random things– and I know there’s something about music that allows people to connect.

Yeah– not for ice cream.

Sometimes stress just gets to ya. I know exactly how that feels. Sometimes at my worst moments, I feel like my head is going to explode with all the different problems and stresses going on. I’m not perfect– I’m human, I can’t handle a lot of things. Thankfully, I know I’m too blessed to be stressed.

In my identity in Christ, I know I can rise above the circumstances around me. But sometimes you just have to take the first step to freedom and identify what’s bothering you and let it out without harming yourself or others. So my team and I had this interesting idea of asking people on the streets of Los Angeles to let out their stress with just a brown paper bag.

We encouraged people to yell, scream, or even blow their issues into a paper bag, then POP it. At first some people seemed pretty reluctant, but after a while, everyone on the block started feelin’ it! It was surprisingly fun and we all shared a lot of laughs!

We were real about it. Yelling and popping a brown paper bag doesn’t mean your problems go away. We heard some pretty intense and serious stories while we were talking to people on the streets and when we had the opportunity, we listened, prayed for them, and encouraged them the best we could. We don’t encourage replacing therapy or professional counseling for lunch sacks! For many, however, it seemed like they just needed an outlet for the small stresses of the day and we were more than happy to be there. Check it out! ^^

Ever since I started this 365 Days of Love project “to do one act of love each day for 365 days” it has really centered me. What I mean by centered is that each day I come back to appreciate what I have been given. It’s crazy, but each day I somehow manage to find some way to serve another human being. By doing this each day I am able to take the focus off of myself and on to another. Whereas before, much of my day was focused on what I needed to do, what I needed to get done, what did I need to accomplish to meet the goals I had set for myself. As you can see, there was a lot of “me” in my days before.

Yet now, even for just 5 minutes or 1 hour each day I can take time out to help somebody else in need. To do an act of kindness or a simple gesture of love and it has made all the difference in my life. I’m starting to recognize more and more that the world does not revolve around me, but the world is full of life, opportunities, and people to be loved and acknowledged! In fact, the more you give of yourself the happier you become.

As they say, “joy is not in the getting but in the giving.” I find so much more fulfillment now that I am less focused on myself and more focused on others. I think about how in one moment I can be sitting in a high rise, in my own office/desk, with a heater and a personal lap top computer… and the next moment I could be on the street corner meeting a homeless man who has no food, no shelter and no place to lay his head. Or how simply walking up to someone and smiling invokes a smile from them. Or how just taking a moment out of my day to listen to someone else share about their struggles and problems instead of thinking about my own. This way of living changes you. It is changing me.

So many times we are so stuck in our own little worlds. We are stuck in our own pity parties. We are trapped in our minds and we are prone to think about me, me, me…. We can become so unappreciative, so ungrateful and so pessimistic. But when we got our eyes off of our problems and onto others we realize many times that are problems aren’t so bad. When we take the little love that we have and we take a risk to give it to someone else… that action will spread love, spread freedom and spread goodness that will ultimately affect not only the one receiving it but the one who gave it.

I heard it once said, “A man kept complaining about having no shoes until one day he saw a man with no feet!” … Let’s not complain about what we don’t have, let’s not feel pity if we don’t get our way, lets not be ungrateful for anything in life, but rather lets us be thankful for what we do have and give what we have to others each day and by doing so find ourselves.

VENICE... BREATHTAKING...

So I haven’t had the time because I’ve been on a personal vacation in Europe to update my daily 365 Days of Love random acts of kindness… to summarize below I wrote down quickly what I got to do each day in different places across Italy and France :)

Day 198 ~ Ended up sitting next to a pastor on the plane, we talked for 6 hours & everything I told him was what he needed to hear! He was crying up a few tears after we talked and prayed cause we both witnessed God’s presence bringing us together for His purpose!

God always puts me next to the right people on the plane ;)

Day 199 ~ Gave a woman begging on the streets of Italy more than change, but a blessing in Jesus name*

HELP THE WIDOWS...

Day 200 ~ Took pics for everyone who asked in Rome :) This ancient city is magnificent!

Day 201 ~ Met 2 strangers @ dinner, shared my faith w/ them, they wept & I secretly paid 4 their dinner*

MY NEW FRIENDS DAVID AND RACHEL... GOD SPOKE TO THEM AND THEY WERE INSPIRED WITH TEARS FROM HEAVEN!

Day 202 ~ Got double booked in a hotel – so I gladly gave my room 2 the angry tenant, & I ended up sharing my faith w/ her :)

Day 203 ~ Gave away my shade to an Italian family in the hot sun near the Leaning Tower of Pisa :)

Day 204 ~ Helped a homeless grandmother begging on the streets of Florence. She blessed me more, graci*

Day 205 ~ Carried a heavy luggage for a grandma up the steps at the train station :) she smiled BIG :D

Day 206 ~ Sending my new friend some fruits he can only get from California, he was delighted  because he can’t get them anywhere else where he lives.

Day 207 ~ Letting others take a shower before me after being on the beaches of Southern France :)

Day 208 ~ Met 4 new friends in France, shared w/ them for hours about God’s love, we prayed, cried & began a blessed new friendship*

Day 209 ~ Gave a little sweet gal “sophie” a lil “love pillow” during dinner in France :) she was so happy!

Day 210 ~ Gave 3 homeless men in France not only $ but blessing from Christ, we all looked at each other w/ love & thanksgiving

Day 211 ~ Helped a person at the fair in France heal their leg from falling down, got anti-septic spray & bandages for em! ^^

Day 212 ~ Gave the hotel house keepers extra tips for waiting longer to clean my room, they all smiled thankfully merci* :)

Day 213 ~ Bought my man Caleb a “colette” souvenir from his favorite fashion boutique – say wut?!!

Day 214 ~ Helped encourage a family that had been going through a very difficult time with the holding of hands & prayer*

Day 215 ~ Encouraged a friend with a disability of his worth and ability in God*

Day 216 ~ Shared with a close friend what true love actually is, how to love others means to first love & respect one self*

Day 217 ~ Prayed for my friends hamster to be healed … it’s sick & the vet can’t help it, but hopefully it will get better!

Arrrrre your hands clean?

To be really honest– I thought the most appropriate thing to followup our ninja video would have to be a pirate theme. I’m a big advocate of clean hands, especially soap and water, but a lot of commuters and workers in LA just don’t have ready access to a sink. Solution? Hand sanitizer!

A pirate that hands out hand sanitizer. Pirates are known to be dirty and rough and tough– so it would be ironic, right? I actually got quite a few laughs from the costume, and a lot of people did want sanitizer. Some people wondered if I had lost a bet or if I was advertising for a company. Nope– just spreading the love. Spread love, not germs!

I had a couple rough rejections, but I “kept walking” and just prayed for them. The 365 Days of LOVE/LOVE LIFE experience is never easy, but the greatest commandment on top of loving our Lord with all our heart and mind is to also love each other as we love ourselves. I will humble myself, dress up as a pirate, and walk around handing out hand sanitizer if it shows you a little bit more of His love through it. All I need to do is obey– He’ll do the rest.

IMMACULATE*

I’ve spent the last two weeks on a personal vacation through Italy and France. Everyday was a new adventure with just me & God. Of course, there was also amazing food, ancient art, history, architecture, sceneries and people that took my breath away. What was most amazing was seeing the beauty and history of the “Renaissance” as I traveled through Rome, Florence, Venice and later all across France I was overwhelmed with the creativity, beauty and loveliness of it all.

What struck me the deepest was when I got to finally see the “Sistene Chapel” at St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome. To think, Michelangelo painted this most triumphant, extraordinary and heavenly masterpiece for 8 years and on one ceiling was able to tell the entire story of God from beginning to end… it was truly a timeless work of art where heaven met earth. As I stood there looking up, something of God told me to go down on my knees and pray…

LORD, RELEASE A "NEW RENAISSANCE"

“Lord, what you did before in the old renaissance, do again today and release a “new renaissance” where once again art, music, culture, human intelligence and passion would depict the beauty of God in our generation today. Make Your beauty known, make your glory revealed, release a new generation of renaissance men and women who would change the world with their God given gifts and abilities and make the glory of God known throughout the whole earth once again… let new works of art that are inspired from heaven be released into the earth, you did it before Lord do it again!”

I began to weep on the floor of the Sistene Chapel… I don’t know why, but I just felt how sad it was that the art of God, the beauty of His glory that was depicted through the paintings, sculptures, literature, writings, mosaics, math, sciences, inventions, technologies of the ancient renaissance are now lost today with secularism, materialism, and worldliness and mediocrity. When I turn on the radio, or watch TV, or pick up a magazine, when I look at our cities filled with smoke, debri and trash… I ask myself where is the beauty that once was? Where are the lyrics, the songs, the art, the films, the architecture, creativity that used to be, what has it now come to be?

I prayed for a new renaissance of love in our world today, I believe God will become mainstream in culture once again, but not religion, but love, not traditions, but transcendence, not control, but creativity, not commercialism, but new glory like the world has never seen since the time of the Renaissance…

I could say so much more, but what spoke to me the most the last 14 days is this… that we were created to make God beautiful, worshipped, loved, adored, amazed and wondered about on earth as it is in heaven. I believe during the time period of the Renaissance they understood this, that every person’s gift, callings, responsibility and purpose was to make God known, to reveal His glory through everything, literally everything He has given to us as a gift… to take those gifts and bring glory back to Him in the way we know how…

365 Days of Love Challenge: How are you using the gifts, talents and blessings God has given you to creatively in your own way bring glory to Him? They did in the old renaissance, think about how you can become the New Renaissance!
